Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. Ryan graduated from John Curtin College of the Arts before later taking on a career as a drag queen. Through drag, Ryan found a love for cabaret, burlesque and circus. This led on to producing and touring their own curation of variety nights. Relocating to the United Kingdom (March 2017) to further pursue the arts, Ryan hit the cabaret scene with a bang, hosting sell-out shows at Edinburgh Fringe and producing his own weekly resident show in London’s Kings Cross as his new alter ego Vicious Von Vixen. Years later, they hung up the top hat next to their old stash of cobweb covered wigs and began hosting shows as Mr. Dappery (a character that took up less preparation time) making way for more energy to focus on a professional career in the UK arts sector. Ryan self-published the first of three books that make up the queer-horror – the GB&T Trilogy – in tribute to their days in heels: Glitter, Blood & Tears. The second, pays tribute to their days on the cabaret scene: Glory, Blood & Tears. While the third, acts as an overlapping prequel come second sequel, as a tribute to those that have suffered discrimination, abuse and trauma as part of any and every segregated community:Genocide, Blood & Tears. Post-COVID, Ryan gained employment within commercial theatre on the West End – letting go of independently producing and hosting cabaret shows entirely – playing their part in helping with the programming of ten prestigious London theatres. Now, they work for the world leading entertainment and production company Underbelly, a company that presents everything Ryan’s career has taken part in thus far, representing its permanent venue Underbelly Boulevard Soho.
